3 Super Simple Tips to
Strengthen Your Willpower
I’m struggling with willpower a bit myself this morning. As I write this, we are in the beginning stages of the coronavirus pandemic. My kids’ school is shutdown, some businesses are shutting down, and it’s throwing me off my normal routine a bit.
I have to rediscover my willpower whenever my routine is interrupted. So I thought, while I’m trying to find my own willpower, I’ll help you strengthen your willpower too by sharing the 3 tips I was inspired by this morning.
The first two tips are from Bob Proctor, who is regarded as one of the living masters of the Law of Attraction. To strengthen your willpower, he suggests that you start by exercising your ability to concentrate; concentration leads to willpower. He offers two super simple ways to do this:
- Focus on a spot on the wall. While you’re sitting in your favorite chair, find a spot on the wall to focus on. Every time your mind wanders, notice that it’s wandering, and simply bring your attention back to the spot. The more you practice doing this, the longer you will be able to hold your concentration on that spot.
- Become one with the flame of a candle. It sounds a bit dramatic, but that’s how Proctor described it. You’re basically doing the same thing that you did with the spot on the wall, but a flame might hold your attention better than a spot on the wall can.

Super Simple Tip #3
#3 – Finish what you start. This super simple tip for strengthening your willpower is from Dandapani, a Hindu priest. Projects, and even simple tasks, are easy to start but hard to finish. Why? Because something else is sure to grab your attention and steal your willpower before you finish. By finishing what you start, you are strengthening your willpower and teaching yourself that you do hard things.
