3 Reasons to Trust Yourself
Trust Yourself. It sounds so simple, right? It sounds like a given; something we would be hardwired to do.
Yet, it’s something we all struggle to do. Why? Because everyone in the world is trying to influence us in some way, and that makes us question our own instincts. Heck, I’m trying to influence you right now.
You don’t trust yourself because you’re faced with so many outside influences, but you need to trust yourself so that you can realize your full potential. So what do you do?
You become a Deliberate Thinker (learn more about Deliberate Thinking here) and decide which outside influences you should let in, which ones you can trust.
- Your gut is always right; your body is biologically wired to keep you safe. Think about it a minute. I’ll bet every time you’ve made a “bad” decision it was because you ignored your gut. You made the decision you thought you SHOULD make, or the one with a short-term payoff, rather than the one you KNEW in your gut was right.
- No one knows you better than you know yourself. No one knows everything you’ve been through. No one knows what you are capable of. No one knows all your dreams and goals. No one knows your strengths and weaknesses as well as you do. So why on Earth would you trust someone else’s opinion about how you should live your life over your own?
- No one else has to live with the consequences of your decisions except you. Yes, your friends, family, co-workers, etc. may be indirectly affected by the decisions you make, but they are not your responsibility. They can choose how much they allow themselves to be affected by you. You, however, do not have that choice. Every decision you make, or don’t make, directly affects you. So trust yourself to make the choice that is right for you.
