Be Intentional With Others:
How to Spot Red Flag & Green Flag People
Whether you’re aware of it or not, your behaviors, attitudes, and philosophies are constantly being shaped by the people you spend time with.
So . . . if you’re really committed to personal development, to becoming the best version of yourself, and to living the fulfilling life you were meant to live, you’re going to have to Deliberately Think about who you’re spending your time with. Then, you’ll have to figure out if you should be spending time with them.
Man, that sounds like a tough job! That’s because it is. It might be one of the hardest things you’ll ever do. But I’m telling you, if you don’t do it, the red flag people in your life (we’ll get to explaining that term in a minute) are going to keep pulling you down to their level, and you will never realize your full potential.
In an attempt to make this task a bit easier for you, I’ve outlined how to spot red flag and green flag people.

Spotting Red Flag &
Green Flag People
Red flag people are the negative influencers in your life, and you need to reduce the amount of time you spend with these people. Three signs of a red flag person are:
- They are routinely inconsistent. Their actions don’t match their words.
- They bulldoze over your needs. And when you make your needs known, they make you feel selfish.
- They try to control your decisions by criticizing and belittling you or making passive aggressive comments.
Green flag people are, you guessed it, the positive influencers in your life. And, of course, you need to increase the amount of time you spend with them. Three signs of a green flag person are:
- They genuinely want the best for you and always encourage you to take care of yourself.
- They challenge you to grow and develop.
- They are someone you admire, someone who has qualities you would like to have. But, they also admire you!
