Feel Like You're Failing?
Let's Interrupt That Thought!
Who doesn’t, right? I’m sure we all feel like we’re failing at something. Or, if not failing, like we’re not experiencing the kind of success we would like to as quickly as we would like to.
I bring this up because I’ve been struggling a bit this week. Not with feeling like a failure, per se, but with feeling like I’m not making progress as quickly as I would like to.
A little backstory — I’ve been dealing with a minor stomach bug and have been more tired than usual this week. So . . . I’m getting behind schedule on my work, and that always freaks me out. Plus, I don’t control my emotions very well when I’m tired, and I tend to get stuck in this irrational, overthinking loop in my head.
If you can relate, let’s interrupt this thought loop together. Think about whatever it is you are trying to achieve. Think about where you are today. Think about where you were at the beginning of your journey toward that goal. I bet you’ll see that you’ve made a ton of progress.
The problem is, it’s hard to keep that progress in perspective because you’re still not where you want to be. But as long as you remain persistent and maintain your momentum, you’ll get there.
On the other hand, if you truly can’t see any progress, and you’ve been working toward your goal for a long time, maybe it’s time to let it go. Maybe that goal’s just not for you. That’s okay. It doesn’t mean you’re a failure; it just means there’s something you’re better suited for that you could be spending your energy on. Make figuring out what that is your new goal! (Or, it might be time to own your “why.” This post will help.)
For my part, I’m going to share 3 of my “firsts” with you. To show you that first efforts aren’t perfect, to remind you to be patient with yourself, and to remind myself how far I’ve come.
Keep scrolling for my “firsts,” and enjoy!

My first video, which is available on YouTube. It’s pretty bad, but I knew I couldn’t waste time redoing everything I was creating, so I said, “It’s good enough,” and posted it. Plus, it’s about authenticity, so it would be a bit hypocritical for me to take it down or redo it now.
My first Pin image. Yikes! I guess it’s not horrible, but it’s pretty ugly ?
And…the first post I published. It’s not bad, but my writing style has changed quite a bit since I wrote this!
