Increase Your Focus and Energy: 3 Tips
Today we’re going to motivate ourselves to increase our focus and energy!
I struggle to manage the constant distractions our world has to offer, and I imagine that you do too. These distractions drain a lot of our energy, which leaves us ill equipped to manage them, and the vicious cycle continues.
We all have so many tasks that we are trying to juggle, and the unending list of to-dos repeating in our heads steals our focus and our energy. It’s time to use our Deliberate Thinking skills and take them back.
I came across a video this morning (link below) that made me realize something; committing to becoming a Deliberate Thinker is just another way of saying that you are committed to increasing your focus and energy.
So I thought it would be good for us to talk about 3 fail-proof tips you can implement today to increase your focus and energy:
- Give people your undivided attention. I learned this one from Dandapani in the video I mentioned. This is such a simple and obvious fail-proof tip that when you hear it, you can’t believe you never thought of it before. You can easily increase your ability to focus by giving people your undivided attention when you are having a conversation. When your focus begins to drift, recognize that you are losing focus, and come right back to focusing on them again. Keep practicing this skill. You will also increase your energy levels because you will become conditioned to blocking out all those energy-stealing distractions.
- Take a break. This is a reminder for you and for me! It’s a fail-proof tip that I know for certain works, and that I know for certain I struggle with the most. When you lose focus and your energy level is low, your body is trying to tell you, “Hey, I need a break here!” But how often do you just push through that one last task or push to put the finishing touches on that huge project you’ve been working on? I know; I do it all the time. But we all know that we are going to get more done in less time if we just take a much needed break first. Just do it! (I hope Nike doesn’t come after me for that one ?)
I saved an oddly specific tip for last. Keep scrolling.

3. Drink a full glass of water, and eat an apple. That’s an oddly specific fail-proof tip. I could just say eat better, but that’s going to take a while to explain and will give you plenty of wiggle room for excuses. There’s no reason you can’t drink a glass of water and eat an apple, unless of your course you have a real aversion to apples. Drink a full glass of water because dehydration will leave you feeling tired and make maintaining focus tough. Eat an apple because I know it works to increase focus and energy levels. There was a time in my life that I had super low energy levels and had a hard time making it through the day. The one thing that always picked me up — an apple.
