My Morning Routine - 3 Empowering Habits
I think we can all agree that developing an effective morning routine is an essential part of developing life-changing habits. What you do first thing in the morning sets the stage for the rest of your day, mentally and physically.
The reason my morning routine is at the front of my mind today is because I’ve been breaking the very effective routine I had in place, and I’m getting frustrated with myself. I followed this routine religiously for 5-6 months, and this week I’ve been having a hard time sticking to it.
Why? Who knows. There could be a million reasons, but my best guess is that it’s the change of the seasons. I live in southwest Michigan, and it’s the end of October. This week it’s been dark until about 8:00 a.m., it’s been rainy every day, and it’s been cold. Not a good combination for enticing someone to jump out of bed in the morning.
So I thought it would be good to share my 3 morning routine habits with you in the hopes that it will inspire both you and me to start each day off with an empowering morning!

Concluding Thoughts
I get up at 5:15, and the first thing I do is have breakfast: an 8-10 oz glass of warm lemon water, a bowl of cereal (Kashi Go Lean), and a cup of coffee. Then I proceed with the following routine:
- I watch motivating/inspiring YouTube videos for about 30 minutes. You could read, journal, or whatever else energizes you. My favorites right now are Evan Carmichael, Matt D’Avella, Simon Sinek, FightMediocrity, and Frank James.
- Next, I work out for 25-30 minutes — always HASfit! 5 days per week. Tabata workouts are my favorite right now.
- Last but not least, before I get ready, I perform a 10-minute meditation. I found a really good variety to choose from on the YouTube channel Great Meditation.
I’m feeling better just writing about this. Tomorrow is another day, and I will stick to these empowering habits.
Psst…I’m not being paid to recommend any of the products/content listed above. These are simply ones that have worked for me.
