How to Reclaim Your Positive Mindset
When Life Knocks You Down
Life is going to knock you down. No ifs, ands, or buts about it. It’s only a matter of time.
Okay, so if that’s the case, can you prepare yourself for the inevitable? For the moment when life knocks you down? So that life doesn’t destroy the positive mindset you’ve worked so hard to create.
Yes! Of course you can, and that’s exactly why I promote intentional living and, more specifically, Deliberate Thinking. Living with intention gives you the strength and self-awareness you need to get back up when life knocks you down.
But, there’s something important that you (and I) need to accept — you’re still going to get knocked down no matter how prepared you are.
Then why even bother preparing yourself? So you don’t stay down for too long. So you get bumped back a couple of spaces in this game of life rather than drawing the card that sends you all the way back to the beginning. And, of course, so you can reclaim your positive mindset as quickly as possible!
As I write this, I’m working on reclaiming my positive mindset. Life has knocked me down a notch, and writing this essay is just one way that I’m intentionally standing back up.

The One Thing You Need to Do
To Reclaim Your Positive Mindset
Take one step forward! Just one. Then, tomorrow, add another step and so on. And when life knocks you down, or back a bit, start over.
How do you know what step to take? Deliberately Think about the daily habits or activities that helped you create your positive mindset in the first place. Then do one of those things. That’s it! There’s just no other way to do it.
But this advice is so simple and so obvious — why am I even bothering to write about it? Because I need to hear it myself today, so I know there’s someone else out there, hopefully you, who needs to hear it too.
As I said, my step today is writing this post. I typically write at least 3 days a week, and, because life knocked me down, I haven’t written in 3 weeks. I feel disconnected from myself and out of sorts, which spills over into other areas of my life. So, I’m taking my first step to reclaim my positive mindset.
What will you do to reclaim yours? What’s the thing that leaves you feeling empowered and the most like your true self? Whatever it is, do it — today — and store that life lesson in the back of your mind for the next time when life knocks you down.
